Following the Islamic Revolution, the imposition of economic restrictions on Iran by certain industrialized countries, together with the outbreak of the imposed war and a shortage of foreign currency resources, brought the inspection of imported goods by both the public and private sectors into sharp focus. In pursuit of this objective, from 1981 (1360) onward, the establishment of an Iranian inspection company with an independent and national identity was considered by the country’s authorities. The company was envisioned to operate impartially between buyers and sellers and, through effective supervision of the proper execution of purchase contracts, safeguard the interests and rights of the government and the nation.Consequently, the Iran Engineering and Industrial Inspection Company (Private Joint Stock) was established in 1983 (1362) and is presently recognized internationally under the name I.E.I.
